Predictive Maintenance

     Proactive or predictive maintenance is a component of a plant’s quality control. If a plant creates a culture of predictive maintenance it, in effect, actively engages in process improvement that results in enhancing the bottom line.

     The general concept is to change the dynamics of what drives your shutdowns. If you have a crack in a vessel,  the vessels becomes a potential critical issue and may drive a forced shutdown. As long as the crack doesn’t get any worse or rupture the plant can continue running. But if the crack should get worse or rupture, then the result would be a forced shutdown and a loss of potential millions in order to facilitate a safe repair.
